Cost =2.50n + 0.75 p

n= number of notebooks

p = number of pens

2 notebooks and 4 pens

Replace n =2 , p=4 and solve:

C = 2.50(2) + 0.75 (4) = 5 +3 = $8

3 notebooks and 5 pens

Same process

C = 2.50 (3) + 0.75 (5) = 7.5 + 3.75 = $11.25
